Some regions are discovered with a glance at the map, whi-
le others reveal themselves slowly, at a gentle pace, amid
the whisper of trees and the murmur of water. Wallonia, the
French-speaking region in southern Belgium, belongs to the
latter. Far from urban bustle and guarded by the memory of
its ancient forests, this land invites travellers to rediscover the journey
in its simplest form: walking along trails, cycling old railway lines now
transformed into greenways, drifting down clear rivers, or getting lost in
villages where time seems to stand still. Wallonia is the other Belgium,
a mosaic of landscapes, legends and rural life that is now reinventing
itself as one of the most appealing destinations for those in search of
